The subject of this project is the GTEL (Gas Turbine-Electric Locomotive) class of Union Pacific locomotives, a unique group that achieved significant success running across the flat-lands of the American heartland. Although there were several GTEL types, the focus of this project will be the 8500HP 'Super Turbine' 3-unit locomotives and the 'Verandas'. These prototype subjects have been previously modeled in O scale, but a serious demand remains for correctly and highly detailed examples of this class which is the purpose of our interest. Complete exterior and underbody detail including the power trucks as well as complete interior detail with prototypical access will be our focus, of course all subject to a successful continuing research effort.
