Union Pacific 'Challenger' Production Details 

The late coal and oil fired versions of our model were equipped with ATC (automatic train control) units that had been relocated to the tender side compartment as shown above. You can see half of the equipment compartment open showing the internal equipment. The compartment is held closed using prototypical latches. You can also see the equalized suspension detail in this photo, including the fabricated leaf springs with individual leafs.
