NYC 'late' J3a 'Hudson' & PT-4 Project Information |
(Kohs & Company 'Late' version production sample) |
This project is an outgrowth of our first edition, the 'as built' J3a New York Central 'Hudson'. These 'Late' versions have been requested by and lobbied for by a number of our early customers/supporters and as part of our business plan, we have listened. We had originally planned on building 150 units of our 'as built' J3a and for the above reason decided to only build 100 units and hold back 50 units for completion as 'late' versions. We anticipate delivery by the end of September. The level of detail and the features offered will be consistent with the 'as built' versions of our original project. For reference on the basic underbody construction please refer to the detail photos related to our 'as built' J3a Hudson project. Some of the modifications included in the 'late' version will be: a Worthington feedwater heater, cut and relocated running boards, external power reverse gear, relocated sand dome, exposed sander plumbing, top mounted boiler check valve unit and a modified plumbing arrangement. We offered the locomotive with both Boxpok and Scullin Disc drivers and the special edition tender for this locomotive is the Lima built PT-4 style centipede. On the next pages you may view prototypical examples of the 'Late' version locomotive and PT-4 style tender as well as construction photos of our sample model for this project. For the purposes of accuracy with our production models, we will select specific road numbers to model to make certain that we offer correctly detailed scale 'prototypes'. The selling price for this model is $3,600.00. |
