A detail view of the end of the steam pipe shows a functional spring hanger that controls the position of the flex-joints on the prototype. Also shown are the operating brass scale coupler, prototypically correct uncoupling mechanism as well as the air and signal lines used for passenger service. The air and signal lines on the finished models will be silicone tubing to replicate the prototype, the brass 'glad hands' will of course remain.
