5/23/17 - An update on this project is seriously overdue as the dates below would indicate. In large part the lack of updates is due to having become aware that another importer had already started a project based on one of my chosen prototypes for this project and subsequently put the project on hold. After I became aware of this and discussed the situation with the other importer involved for whom I have great respect, I determined the best thing to do was to put my project on the back burner. I anticipate that going forward we will both have SP caboose projects without overstepping on one another, with me focusing on wooden variations while the other importer will handle the steel variations. I will provide more info as the situation is firmed up. One final note, I do not know what the timing is for the other importer's project and I do not want to create any problems for them at this point which is the only reason I am not referring to them by name, I will be happy to share that information in the future.

2/21/11 - Following further review and research and well as discussions with modelers, the versions of the Southern Pacific caboose that are under development have been adjusted to reflect what seems to be a better fit with related plans. Although the new versions are very similar to the original selections and are in the same general classification, the slightly later variations reflect newer construction techniques and materials that are more appropriate for the later types of power that we are planning. The updated selections are shown on the project information page for this project.

8/22/10 - Please review the basic information on the 'Project Information' page and provide your feedback if this is a project of interest to you. Once again, just as with the Union Pacific caboose project and the Norfolk & Western project before that, we are considering the classic wooden caboose in transition and the first 'modern' caboose used in large numbers on the road. It may be possible to produce both classes if there is adequate support.
